Rag Rug #1 progress
So here is the beginning of my first rag rug. I must say, it is a lot harder on my fingers that I had anticipated. This is the first time in my life that I have ever crocheted. It isn't the most beautiful crocheting job, but my kids are really excited for it. This one is going in my oldest boy's room. So far it measures about 16 inches wide. I am not sure how big I am going to make it. I will stop when I feel like it is big enough. It will take at least another week to finish it. It is pretty time consuming. Hopefully by the end of this first one, I will know what I am going.

Small Ironing Board Cover Tutorial
I went to my local thrift store yesterday to find some old sheets to cut up for the rag rugs that I am learning how to make. Amongst the throngs of sheets was this light green print with this really cute band that ran across it with wonky birthday party animals. It was adorable...

Another use for scraps
RAG RUG MAKING
![]() |
| (I did not make this rug. This photo come courtesy of EKRA. She is amazing) |
I have decided its time to learn to crochet.
I never in my life thought I would want to learn,
but I stumbled upon some amazing crocheted rugs
make out of recycled clothes and scraps of fabric and fell in love.
I decided that I had to learn how to make those.
So today I went to my local book shop and found lots of books on crocheting,
but no books on crocheting rugs out of fabric.
I decided on this book so I could learn the basics.
| See the book here |
Next, I am going to order the rag rug making book online or maybe I can just find some great tutorials.
So here I go.
Time to get the tools and teach myself to crochet.
Good luck self :)

How does this little fish get noticed?
Sometimes it takes me a while to navigate all the quilting blogs out there in blog land,
but thanks to some blog hopping,
I happened upon this post from way back in 2010 via fresh modern quilts.
It is about pledging to blog about the entire process of quilting,
from concept to finished product.
Everyone's process is so different.
It is interesting to see how others go about their creative processes.
The truth is, I have already been blogging about the process,
see here
and here
and here
But, nonetheless, Its always fun to link up with other quilters through groups like this.

It is amazing to me how many quilters are out there.
In fact, it is actually overwhelming.
It makes me feel like,
"How does this little fish get noticed in such a huge ocean?"

The Easter Bunny strikes again
The Easter Bunny came !!! He almost forgot. Shame on him. The boys were so excited that they woke up at 2am to see if he had arrived yet. Mommy had to send them back to bed because she hadn't even been to sleep yet for the night.
This year, I asked the Easter Bunny to focus less on the candy and more on Christ. So there are fun activity books, Jesus puzzles, Choose The Right wristbands and other fun stuff (or as mommy and daddy would call it, "crap").
Over all, I think the baskets turned out pretty cute this year. Oh ya, I almost forgot. He also brought us an xbox Kinect. What???? Ya, we are going to blame that one on daddy.

Next step
I finished sewing all the white strips to the big rectangular strips
on my boy's bed quilts the other day.
I am doing Amy Smart's Double Crossed Pattern.
The next step was to figure out which 2 triangle pieces
would go with which particular rectangles.
As I laid them out, the number of rows on my living room floor kept growing
and growing and growing until it completely covered my entire living room.
It was 1 am before I finally finished laying all the pieces out.
Then came the fun of cleaning everything up.
Lets just say, I was really tired by the time it was all said and done.
Now they are all in a pile waiting to have the triangles sewn to the rectangles.
Doing two quilts at the same time can be a bit overwhelming.
I sure hope they look good when they are finished.

I am so excited. It is official.
I am going to Sewing Summit 2012 again this year.
I just registered 5 minutes ago, just in time for the "first 50" discount.
Last year was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I have been waiting since then for the 2012 registration to open.
Have you registered yet? If not, don't wait.
It is suppose to sell out this year.
